Treatment of adult patients with Type II diabetes. As monotherapy: — for patients whose diet and exercise alone does not provide adequate control, and for patients for whom metformin use is considered inappropriate due to the presence of contraindications or intolerance. As part of the dual oral therapy in combination with: — metformin in patients with insufficient glycemic control, despite the use of the maximum tolerated dose when monotherapy with metformin; — sulfonylurea in patients with insufficient glycemic control, despite the use of the maximum tolerated dose of sulfonylurea, and in patients for whom metformin is considered inappropriate due to the presence of contraindications or intolerance; — thiazolidinedione for patients with insufficient glycemic control, for which thiazolidinedione is considered acceptable. As part of triple oral therapy in combination with: — sulfonylurea and metformin when diet and exercise with dual therapy with these drugs do not provide adequate glycemic control. In combination with insulin (with or without metformin), when a diet and physical exercise together with a stable insulin dose do not provide adequate glycemic control.
