Arterium’s symposium at Neurologists’ Congress

The Third Russian International Congress “Cerebrovascular Pathology and Stroke” was held in early October in Kazan, Russia. The Congress brought together more than 2,000 neurologists from the Russian Federations and foreign countries.

The thematic symposium “Venous Circulation Disorders in Cerebrospinal System: Clinical Profile, Diagnostics, and Therapy” was held with Arterium’s support. The Symposium was focused on administration of L-lysine aescinat in dorsalgias. This event brought together more than 200 neurologists. L-lysine aescinat is the only parenteral angioprotector with direct antioedematous action to treat and prevent oedemas of any localization. The drug reduces the increased vascular permeability and venous drainage and acts quickly and efficiently due to parental administration.

The Symposium was opened by Dr K.A. Sadokha, Candidate of Medical Sciences and Associate Professor at the Chair of Neurology and Neurosurgery of Belarus Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education. In her report “Spondylogenic Dorsalgias”, she focused on the wide use of L-lysine aescinat in neurology and neurosurgery in Belarus and her clinical trial.

Dr I.A. Schukin, Candidate of Medical Sciences and Associate Professor at the Chair of Neurology and Neurosurgery of N.I. Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University, presented a group of researchers led by Prof A.N. Boyko, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Chief Neurologist for Moscow, and reviewed the findings of L-Lysine Aescinat Observational Programme. He presented his report “Role of Venous Disorders in Patients with Dorsalgias: New Therapeutic Approaches”. Addition of this drug was found to achieve statistically significant improvement of outcomes of therapy vs. standard therapy.

In the report “Cerebral Venous Dystonias”, Prof E.N. Diakonova, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Chair of Neurology and Neurosurgery at the Institute of Postgraduate Education of Ivanovo State Medical Academy, presented her observations based on Doppler cerebrovascular imaging study. She recommends all neurologists to pay special attention to L-lysine aescinat because this drug immediately improves the condition of patients with headache of venous or mixed genesis and their quality of life.

The final report was presented by Prof A.A. Skoromets, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Academician of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, Head of Chair of Nervous Disorders at St. Petersburg I.P. Pavlov State Medical University. In his report “Spondylogenic Venous Radiculomyeloischemias”, Chief Neurologist for St. Petersburg presented the results of the comparative study that demonstrate advantages of L-lysine aescinat vs. conventional therapy for radiculomyeloischemia.
