Arterium* presents new original drug
In August, Arterium launched a new original drug in the Ukrainian market – Cholelesan®. It is a herbal cholagogue used in the treatment of gallbladder conditions, e.g. chronic cholecystitis and biliary dyskinesia. Cholelesan® has a unique composition enabling complex symptomatic treatment of biliary dyskinesia. It relieves spasm, improves bile outflow, and eliminates such unpleasant symptoms as a bitter taste in the mouth and nausea. The drug's ingredients have a decontracting and antiseptic action. Cholelesan® includes extracts of well-studied herbs and oils that make great carriers of the drug's active ingredients. Among them are extracts of wild carrot, calendula flowers, and Helichrysum arenarium, and turmeric root, as well as peppermint and turmeric oils.
Arterium conducted 4 pre-clinical and 2 clinical trials to confirm therapeutic effect and safety of the drug. The concluding clinical study was conducted under the supervision of Ukraine's lead gastroenterologist Prof. Natalia Kharchenko. “Introduction of Cholelesan® brought the remission rate up to 100%,” she concluded in the study**.
The incidence of gallbladder and bile duct diseases is extremely high – according to WHO, 10-20% of the worldwide population suffers from biliary dyskinesia and chronic cholecystitis. Untimely or poor treatment of these two can even result in cholelithiasis. Cholelesan® stimulates biliation and improves bile outflow and relieves painful spasms, preventing cholestasis.
Offered in capsules, the drug is designed with a short administration course in mind (20 days) – which is also beneficial for patients since herbal cholagogues are usually taken over 2-3 months.
